- Yes. The salvage mode does work and is about 80-90 percent effective. Many
- subdirectories may be lost and the data contained in them may end up with
- new names in new directories. Not a pretty sight.

-
- I am.
-
- I have spewed my share of flames at AFS in this group, but I should say that
- I believe AFS if VERY PROMISING. Just not yet ready for prime time. I still
- have a 1G partition on my 4G HD that is full of live/dead data awaiting
- DS-AFS that can save the day. I have recovered about 80 percent of it, but
- it is the stuff in those subdirectories that got renamed/redistributed that
- holds that partition hostage.
-
- Oh yes. For the joker who posted, saying "Did you ever hear of backups?"
- My reply is E.S.A.D! A parachute is no substitute for a safe landing.
